Email to SMS

Man looking at mobile phone

What may be considered as being very much a first world problem is the confusion of different platforms we all use to convey messages to each other. It can be painfully time consuming trying to locate a certain message that you’re sure that you’ve seen but that remains annoyingly elusive as you search for it amongst Messenger, SMS (Short Message Service) i.e. ‘texts’, WhatsApp, email and all the others.

Having said that, it’s a problem that’s essentially of our own making and another ‘benefit’ of competition between platform owners, remember eight-track? Unlike coping with compatibility problems between tapes and cassettes however, when it comes to being able to easily convert emails to SMS messages, texts in other words, we can help, and if you haven’t thought of the benefits of being able to do this, let us help.

Let’s start with simple psychology. Which are you more likely to look at immediately on receipt, an email or a text message? We’d suggest it’s a text message, and we’d also suggest that because texts carry the expectation of personal news, their message carries greater impact. One of the beauties of our email to SMS service is the ability to transfer messages directly from your Customer Relations Management or Project Management tool to a snappy SMS, getting out a message that you can pretty well guarantee will be read immediately. Would you want to use this for your average sales message? Probably not, but if you’re having a one-day sale, or only have 50 of something left, then maybe. Even more immediate and helpful would be being able to advise customers of service outages, or individual customers of information they need immediately, after all, who knows if they’re on the move and not able maybe to receive an email?

Potentially, another useful application of this technology is communicating with staff, not all of whom may have access to mobile data at the time that you need them to read, and respond, to a message. The thing with all these uses is that you’re adding a service to customer and employee alike, keeping them in the loop, letting them have information as soon as it’s available.

It’s easy to use too. Simply separate each email address on your intended list of recipients by a comma and your email will be sent as a text, what’s more you can customise your messages by adding a unique to you sender ID. All you have to do is enter this into your email’s subject line and the system will make sure that it populates the Sender field on the recipient’s mobile. One more thing, as the sender you’ll also get access to a full report of who did and didn’t receive your message as well as details of invalid phone numbers.
