Office with moving boxes

They say that finding a new home and moving house are amongst the most stressful things one ever does and that, second only to marriage, it’s the one time you’re most likely to lose the will to live. Or maybe that’s divorce, either way the whole finding, buying and moving thing is something most of us would prefer not to have to do too often.

And that’s just moving house. That’s just the two of you and maybe a couple of kids and all your stuff, how difficult can that be?  So let’s ratchet that up by several degrees and instead say that we’re now having to find and move offices and there’s 20 of you and all your stuff and it will be a full time job looking for your ideal location with the right number of workspaces and sufficient car parking. How do you fancy dealing with that?

Happily you don’t have to. Instead you can, if you’re smart, go on-line and check the properties listed on, for instance, www.squarefootfinder.co.uk, the professional commercial space experts where you’ll be able to choose a short list of options for you to consider. Which is where we come in. You see, what happens then is that you’ll meet the estate agent or landlord on site and you’ll ask them the obvious question:

“What’s the broadband speed like?” and they’ll tell you, probably hand on heart that, “It’s good” but the truth is they really don’t know because they have no way of telling. However, they’re the professionals who know the industry so you believe them, sign the lease, start making plans and then call a Broadband supplier to sort out the connection.

It’s at this point that things can so easily take a considerable turn for the worse. A good Broadband supplier will start by asking you questions, like, “How many people in your team?” and “What do you use the Internet for; web browsing, email, backup, cloud services (accounting and Customer Relationship Management software)?” A good Broadband supplier also has the ability to work out the best connection for you and your growing business.  He can then check what’s available at your new premises, and unfortunately, this is where the turn for worse really kicks in and stress levels go through the roof! That flippant “It’s good” you were told turns out to be far from good, in fact it turns out that you can’t even get fibre, or that even if you can get fibre its atrocious, even slower than your present site!!!

Now your Broadband supplier will be able to supply a solution and one that will give you excellent speeds and reliability, but rather than the £50 per month you’re paying at the moment you’re going to have to find £300, £600 or even £1000 per month. Which is not what you were expecting.

There’s a moral here. Involve a Broadband supplier you trust from the outset. Get them to ensure that the Broadband speed at the lovely new premises you have an eye on will meet your needs. Don’t rush! And here’s a gift from us to you: If you want to find out what the Broadband is like at any location you’re thinking of moving to use our free Broadband report! You’ll find it here.

Happy hunting!
